What a perfect way to wrap up the year!

Students arrived for the final Fun Friday of the year in their coziest pajamas, ready for a day full of smiles and holiday cheer. The excitement truly soared this morning when the high school choir paid us a special visit, filling our halls with beautiful carols and festive spirit. Watching our elementary students beam with joy was a great reminder of how special this season is—and how meaningful it is when our school community comes together.

Thank you to our high school singers for sharing your talent, and to our students and staff for making this Fun Friday one to remember. We’re heading into the break with warm hearts and happy memories! Have a happy and safe holiday break, Panther Community!!

Update: Due to ongoing power outages at Enumclaw Middle School, Southwood Elementary, and Sunrise Elementary, school is canceled for these three schools only. All activities planned at these three schools are also canceled. All other schools will still operate on a two-hour delay to ensure our buildings are warm and systems are operational for students. Thank you to the PSE and utility teams who continue to work to restore power.

We are actively monitoring power outages across the district. At this time, Black Diamond Elementary, Enumclaw Middle School, Southwood Elementary, and Sunrise Elementary are without power. Due to these outages, all schools will operate on a two-hour delay. Please note there will be no out-of-district transportation. Buses will run on normal routes.

We will continue to monitor the situation. If power is not restored, we will reassess and provide families and staff with any updates. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families. Thank you to our PSE and utility teams for working to restore our power!

We encourage all families to visit the Safety Study Hall, a website provided by the Washington State Department of Health, which hosts a library of resources on important safety topics for schools, students, and families.

What a Fun Friday here at Southwood! We kicked off the day with Mr. Means greeting students at drop-off dressed as an elf and that was just the beginning! We had an amazing turnout for our Jingle Bell Run, with more qualifiers than ever before. Students even got to run alongside the Gingerbread Man, then celebrate with cookies and cocoa together in the gym. Congratulations to all of our runners! We are so proud of each and every one of you! And don’t forget— the PTO Holiday Craft Night is TONIGHT, and the Book Fair is open until 7 PM! We hope to see you there for even more festive fun! Have a SAFE and fun weekend, Panther Community!

Our 5th graders shined on the dance floor at our Dancing Classrooms culminating event a couple of weeks ago! From the tango to the waltz, they worked hard, supported each other, and had a blast learning new steps. We are so proud of their confidence, teamwork, and pride!

A very special thank you to Ms. Erin, the Dancing Classrooms Program Director from Pacific Ballroom Dance, for leading our students with such enthusiasm and care. We are also deeply grateful to our PTO and the Enumclaw Schools Foundation for generously sponsoring this wonderful program at our school.

Inclusive learning means being presented with information in ways that are relevant and meaningful to every student. Discussion, hands-on learning experiences, and inquiry-based projects are all examples of inclusive teaching practices that have, again and again, been shown to improve academic achievement for all students. This promotes overall student well-being, which is one of the Five Commitments of the Enumclaw School District. Please join us in celebrating Inclusive Schools Week.

Today is National High-Five a Librarian Day!

Check out this awesome moment when one of our students cooked a delicious meal using a recipe from a cookbook he checked out from our school library!

Thank you to our wonderful librarians for guiding our students, sparking their curiosity, and helping them discover passions—whether in books or in the kitchen.

Take a moment today to give your librarian a high-five and remind our kids just how special libraries truly are!
