"What I Need" (WIN) Time in Our Elementary Schools: Individualized Support for Students
Enumclaw School District elementary schools have dedicated time each day called What I Need (WIN) Time. This is a structured period during which teachers and support staff provide targeted support to meet the specific needs of each student.
Purpose
The purpose of WIN Time is to ensure that all students receive instruction tailored to where they are in their learning journey. Some students may need extra help in developing foundational skills, while others may be ready to extend and enrich their understanding. WIN Time provides the flexibility to address both.
WIN Time is in addition to the core instructional block (classroom lessons). Students continue to engage with rigorous, grade-level material in their class while also receiving time for personalized support or enrichment.
How It Works
Small Groups: Students are grouped based on their current learning needs. These groups are flexible and change as students grow.
Focused Instruction: Teachers and support staff work with students on skill-building, enrichment, or reinforcement in reading, math, and other core areas.
Student-Centered: The time is not about repeating regular lessons. Instead, it is an opportunity for students to get exactly what they need at that moment to make progress.
Benefits for Students
Targeted intervention for those who need more support.
Enrichment opportunities for students ready to be challenged.
Personalized learning that adapts to students' changing needs.
A sense of confidence and success as students experience growth.
Why It Matters
Every child learns at a different pace. WIN Time ensures that students receive the support and intervention they need, and every student has the chance to excel. It is one more way our schools are providing high-quality, individualized instruction.
