At Southwood, we demonstrate our value of literacy through our quality daily instruction and through various events throughout the school year, including Read Across America Week, family math and reading nights, and the summer book exchange. Our central courtyard houses our reading garden, donated by the Kasey Kahne Foundation and Farmers Insurance Group.
Southwood incorporates computer literacy in several facets of instruction. All fifth grade students have their own chromebook that they utilize daily across content areas. Kindergarten through fourth grade class have access to chromebooks, laptops and tablets to enrich their learning experiences.
Built in 1970, Southwood comprises 13 general education classrooms, and several specialist rooms, including, special education, LAP, Highly Capable, music, science and art.
There are several ways to get involved at our school. We invite family and community members to volunteer in classrooms, assist at events, and join the Parent Teacher Association.
The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction hosts a database that provides information from prior school years.
